Porin (ポリン, Porin) is Pozun's younger sister.
Appearance[]
Porin is a small, pink, dwarf-like creature with a giant tail with two small horns on her forehead.
Personality[]
Despite being presumably full-grown, Porin has a sweet childlike demeanor and affectionately refers to her older brother with the -tan (たん) honorific. She also refers to herself in third person.
History[]
Pozun and Porin are descended from a long line of gyōji (行司) in their village.
First Great MÄR-Heaven War[]
One day, the dam in their village suddenly dried up. A militant group known as the Chess Pieces offered to continuously provide the village with their own water supply on the condition that one from the family of sumo referees be their own referee for the upcoming War Games they planned to host. As the eldest son of his family, Pozun volunteered, leaving his little sister Porin and village to go with the Chess to Lestava Castle.
Second Great MÄR-Heaven War[]
Once the second war began, Pozun would once again leave his village and head for Reginlief Castle, the new location for the War Games. He promised Porin that he would come home right away after his job there had finished.
After the War Games[]
Porin set out from her village to meet Pozun mid-way, as Reginlief Castle was close enough to their village to be within a day's journey on foot. However, she was unexpectedly ambushed in the bushes by Jack, Nanashi, Alan, and Chaton, who all mistook her for her brother. Alan speculated that Pozun wouldn't likely go straight home when it could endanger his family, but Porin insisted that her brother wouldn't break a promise with her. Nanashi asks if she could guide them to her home. Porin kindly agrees, while Pozun observes them as he hides behind a bush.
The group happily followed Porin along a river and through a field, though their enthusiasm dropped when Porin told them her village was on the other side of the mountain ahead. Chaton commented that mountain trails were rough to traverse on and Nanashi quietly whined about how long it was taking. Porin did not tire from the mountain hike, though unexpectedly tripped over a small rock and injured her knee. Jack offered to carry Porin on his back. She worried that she was too heavy for him to carry, but Jack assured her that he was fine.
With the village in sight below, the group unexpectedly had to defend themselves against rocks falling off the cliffside above them and a tree Guardian, both of which summoned by Pozun's White ÄRM Die in a failed attempt to stop their arrival. Jack lets Porin down from his back at the village entrance and she calls out to the villagers to meet the guests she brought. They warmly greet her and become fascinated with with Team MÄR. The village elder approaches, telling Porin's new friends that outsiders were not welcome in the village. Porin insists that the elder make an exception, and Jack steps forward to introduce himself and offer his help with the dried up farm.
After Jack defeats the "stake" Guardian and revives the dam, Pozun helps Jack from being swept away by the rapid water. They are both then joined by Porin, Nanashi, Alan, and Chaton. Porin hugs her brother, and remarks that the day was filled with happy events. Pozun gives credit to MÄR, sincerely stating that he was glad they won the War Games.
The elder expresses gratitude and Porin invites Jack and the others to eat their homegrown vegetables together, though he reluctantly declined. Porin teared up asking Jack if she would see him again. Jack got on his knees and put his hands on her shoulders, promising that he would return one day to eat vegetables together with her. After making it a pinky promise, they bid farewell to Pozun, Porin, and the other villagers.
During Ginta and Babbo's final showdown against the King of the Chess, Pozun, Porin, and the rest of their village offer up some of their magical power to Ginta to help him win.
At the end of the anime, Pozun and Porin are shown to be having fun playing in the dam water.
