Obit (オウビット, Oubitto) is a character in MÄR Heaven: Oblivion of Clavier. A bishop of the Chess Pieces; he activated the Ghost ÄRM, Rondo of Time, on Alviss, who had defeated him, and as a result, is responsible for the incident of the game.

Appearance

Obit is a rather obese man with pointed ears and pink hair. His skin is a grotesque pale green. He has a third eye above the junction of his eyebrows, similar to Girom. His attire consists of yellow pants held up with both a belt and suspenders, a purple vest, beige undershirt, and a large red bowtie.

Due to his obese body, he requires a cane to walk.

Personality

In spite of his class, Obit is rather weak and unintelligent, yet he believes himself to be a genius.

Etymology and Origin

Obit /'obit/, /'aubit/; From Anglo-Norman obit, Middle French obit, and their source, Latin obitus (“going down; death”), from obīre (“to go down, to die”). This etymology likely alludes to Obit's death, as his corpse falls from the sky to the ground.

History

In pursuit of power for himself, Obit, a Bishop class Chess Piece, stole an unfinished Ghost ÄRM, Rondo of Time, from Kapel Meister, and sought any information he could find regarding the legend of the Misty Castle, Clavier.

MÄR Heaven: Oblivion of Clavier

Obit leads a small battalion of Pawns to attack Wedge Town, where he himself violently interrogated the mayor for information on the Misty Castle. He is then confronted by members of Team MÄR, who fight him off and protect the mayor. Insulted that Phantom denied him participation in the War Games and frustrated by his defeat, Obit turns towards Alviss and tries to activate the Ghost ÄRM, Rondo of Time. When nothing appears to happen, he tries again, though ends up being mocked by MÄR instead. Obit angrily puts the ÄRM away and warns them he won't forget their crime for hurting his pride, teleporting away.

Knowing that he would soon be wanted by the Ghost Chess from having stolen from them, Obit began to maintain a low profile and kept tabs on MÄR's activity. He allowed for them to locate the Misty Castle for him, even following them to Lubanna Lighthouse where he hid his presence until they left.

Obit catches up to MÄR along the cloudy stairs in the sky leading to Clavier and manages to get in their path. Eager to get revenge, he takes out the Rondo of Time and taunts Alviss with it, threatening to use it on him once more. However, everyone is taken off guard when a huge monster lands on top of him from above. Flattened, Obit dies within moments, and his corpse falls off the stairs to plummet to the ground below.

ÄRMs

As an ÄRM user, Obit has no attribute and thus mainly uses multiple Weapons ÄRMs in battle, but he does have a couple Nature ÄRMs at his disposal to use.

• Weapon Ring: A Weapon ÄRM that summons a knife with homing abilities.
• Dagger Bracelet: A Weapon ÄRM that shoots off multiple daggers in quick succession.
• Screw Saber: A Weapon ÄRM sword that is twisted like a corkscrew.
• Vindälv: A Nature ÄRM that allows the user to control wind.
• Grand Boulder: A Nature ÄRM which creates giant boulders.
• Rondo of Time: Stolen from Kapel Meister, a Ghost ÄRM medallion that accelerates time on the victim's body.

In-Game Stats

VS. Obit

Obit will launch several ÄRM attacks while you activate your ÄRM once. Countering this time is difficult, so if you have little HP left, try going outside of town to level up and try again. The most troublesome ÄRM used by Obit is the "Weapon Ring ★1", which not only deals high damage but also has homing capabilities.
