Mr. Hook (Mr.フック, Mr. Fukku) was a Bishop in the Chess Pieces.

Appearance

Mr. Hook had dark sandy brown hair, styled in a bob cut, as well as a long pointed nose. In the manga, his right leg was prosthetic, consisting of a peg leg connecting at the knee cap. However, in the anime, Mr. Hook still retained his real right leg.

Personality

Mr. Hook was rather reserved but had a short temper. He took pleasure in exploiting the volcano range's heat to torture Snow, but nevertheless understood that he wasn't allowed to kill her.

Etymology

Mr. Hook is based on Captain Hook, a character in the fairy tale Peter Pan.

War Games

Round 3

Mr. Hook participates in the third match of the third round as Snow's opponent. Before the battle even begins he comments that the battle will be over quickly and Alan agrees saying that Snow can't win this fight. Mr. Hook once again comments that the fight will be over in five minutes and activates his Weapon ÄRM, Screw Saber. Snow activates her Ice Ring and covers her hand in an ice sword and uses it to fend off Mr. Hook's attacks Ginta cheers for Snow and ask Alan "what's with the she can't win crap" to which Alan merely responds that Ginta can't see what's in front of him. Snow looks exhausted and noticing her ice sword melting and breaking from the heat as Mr. Hook ask if she's feeling her limit and commenting that this battlefield is her own personal hell. Alviss points out that because Snow is an ice user, fully synchronizing with her ÄRM in an antithetic environment takes a larger toll on her body and mind and agrees with Alan that she has no chance of winning. Ginta finally understands what Alan meant and yells at Snow that she's done enough and he'll take care of the rest. She looks back at him and recalls Ginta telling her to never give up and she tells him she can still go on.

She undoes her ice sword and comments that she saved enough magic for a final attack. She summons Yuki-chan and has him charge at Mr. Hook for the finishing blow but Mr. Hook smiles saying he was impressed she could summon it but comments he can still summon something better. He activates his Weapon ÄRM, Anger Anchor, and has it land on Snow's Guardian, stopping it in its tracks. Snow collapses from exhaustion and Alviss declares that the results are clear and if her opponent will accept her forfeit. He agrees, knowing that the Queen ordered for Snow to be captured alive, rather than killed.

Round 4

Due to his victory against Snow in the third round, Mr. Hook earned the right to move on to the fourth round. He observes Rapunzel striking Aqua across the face for stating Alviss and Nanashi to be cute, noting that the Knights "come in many forms".

In the first match, he goes up against Alviss. Alviss, confident after his training give Mr. Hook the first attack, opting to leave himself defenseless. Insulted, Mr. Hook begins by using his Screw Saber and continuously thrusts it at Alviss, only for the latter to dodge each strike. He then changes tactics and activates his next Weapon ÄRM, Fishing Rod. The hook of the rod sinks into Alviss's shoulder and launches him in the air. With nowhere to run he activates another Weapon ÄRM, Harpoon Pierce, and launches a huge harpoon at the airborne Alviss. In one fell swoop, Alviss destroys the harpoon with his bare hands, surprising Mr. Hook. The onlooking Chess members watching the match realize that Alviss strength is the real deal. While watching the match, Rapunzel warns Mr. Hook that punishment awaits him should he lose the match.

Frustrated, Mr. Hook realizes that despite his own efforts, Alviss had yet to use an ÄRM. Backed into a corner, Mr. Hook resorts to his ultimate weapon and will continue to fight until he reaches his magic limit. He summons the Anger Anchor to crush Alviss. Alviss not only dodges the attack but moves with such speed as to sneak behind Mr. Hook and knifehand strike the back of his upper neck, knocking him down. Pozun then declares Alviss the winner.

Having lost the match Rapunzel tells Mr. Hook that it's time for his punishment. Mr. Hook ask Rapunzel if she's gonna kill him and she responds that it's up to him and they will decide his fate in a game of "Rock, Paper, Scissors". The end result of their game is Rapunzel throwing scissors and Mr. Hook throwing paper. Mr. Hook loses, and Rapunzel kills Mr. Hook on the spot by slicing his neck (completely decapitating him in the manga), and his body sinks into the ice afterwards.

Mr. Hook's ÄRM are:

• Screw Saber: The untwisted foil release of Mr. Hook's corkscrew-twisted bracelet Weapon ÄRM.
• Fishing Rod: A ring Weapon ÄRM in the form of a fishing pole which can fling people up into the air.
• Harpoon Pierce: A bracelet Weapon ÄRM that summons a giant harpoon.
• Anger Anchor: A ring Weapon ÄRM which summons a giant anchor from the sky to crush enemies. It is what he used to defeat Snow, and nearly kill Alviss.

Trivia

• In the manga, Mr. Hook never uses his Screw Saber against Alviss, beginning the fight with Fishing Rod right away.
