History[]

MÄR Heaven: KNOCKIN' ON HEAVEN'S DOOR[]

After MÄR defeats the two Bishops of the Chess Pieces in the Underground Lake and Ginta sets the ghost ship free with Gargoyle, one of three sealed doors opens in a small cave on the eastern edge of Vestry. Marl, who was lurking in the area, decided to seize the opportunity and run off to the cave as the villagers were celebrating MÄR's triumph. However, Ginta, Babbo, and Jack take notice of the strange boy running through town and decide to follow him.

Altar Piece[]

They catch up to Marl and he introduces himself as a sort of investigator of old ruins currently living near Vestry, clearing Ginta's initial suspicion of him being a Chess Piece. Marl explains that these ruins hold an ancient ÄRM that's currently sealed away, but is easy to wield for someone with average magic power. Ginta asks his intentions on acquiring this ÄRM and Marl states he too would like to fight the Chess, as they destroyed his homeland and he is inspired by MÄR's courage. Ginta offers to help Marl acquire this ÄRM, as do Babbo and Jack. Marl thanks them and joins forces with the trio.

They encounter an iceberg blocking their path forward in the hallway. Despite deciding that they need Snow's assistance, Dorothy shows up in the cave and insists she can help get rid of it, but to no avail. Depressed, she follows the boys back outside where they ask for Snow's help. Dorothy waits in the village while they head back in, getting rid of the ice.

With Snow's help, Ginta and the others are able to retrieve one of the parts of the ÄRM for Marl, who then hypothesizes that the next door should've opened for them to enter.

Altar Ice[]

Ginta asks Nanashi if he wanted to join them in retrieving the next part of the ÄRM, to which he eagerly agreed. The group encountered a number of magic barriers that required a witch to dispel, so they head back outside to the surface to ask for Dorothy's help next. Despite her depression from earlier, she immediately cheers up when learning Ginta and the others needed her, and joins them in the caves once more. By using her magic, she rids the path of the barriers and helps acquire the second piece of the ÄRM. However, she immediately notices a brief leak of malicious intent in Marl's own magic power.

Altar Lava[]

Back outside, Dorothy confronts Marl about his true intentions for desiring the ÄRM, and Ginta immediately rushes to his defense by a redirecting suspicion at her as a notorious thief. Snow angerly calls Ginta out for making such accusations towards his friend, but he rushes into the last door with Marl on his own.

Ginta acquires the final piece of the ÄRM and Marl assembles it. Now in his possession, Marl shows his true self to Ginta and introduces the ancient ÄRM to him as the Guardian ÄRM, Talos. Marl orders Talos to kill Ginta, but Dorothy suddenly appears to block the attack just in time. Talos deals a blow to Dorothy, knocking her unconscious, but Ginta's shock wears off. Realizing the danger, Ginta decides to take Dorothy and Babbo and retreat back outside.
