History[]
Twenty years prior to the second war, a man named Gaira stumbled upon Jake who was playfully bathing in a plunge pool and invited him to join in. While sharing a meal together around a campfire that night, Jake told Gaira about his dream to find a seed of the legendary tree, and to make a plant that would grow tall into the sky.
Jake would later give up on the dream when he and Gaira met a girl who was being threatened by a pair of werewolves. Jake activated his Earth Scoop and used his Earth Wave technique to scare them away. The girl noticed he had a minor leg injury and immediately treated it. When she asks why he saved her, he says his home was a farm just like hers where his mother was waiting for him there to return as a grown man, and seeing her immediately made him feel like she was also family. She giggles at his reasoning, causing Jake to blush out of embarrassment.
Gaira and Jake both stay at her farm home for a while, the latter helping with planting new crops. She delightfully hugs Jake out of gratitude, before questioning whether she was competent enough to grow them. Jake holds her hand and offers to teach her, but the two turn around out of shyness. Blushing, she says she'll prepare a delicious meal out of appreciation.
She later overhears a conversation between Jake and Gaira behind the house. Jake stated he wanted to go with Gaira, who was planning on competing in a martial arts tournament in a neighboring country. Gaira scolds Jake for using his intent to get himself out his own dilemma, knowing full well that Jake was truly in love with the farm girl. Jake admits that her smile made him realize that he wanted to use his skills to bring the rough land to life and make her truly happy. Gaira assures him that he won't laugh at his change of heart, for he had found a new dream. Jake thanks Gaira, and they promise to meet again one day on when the land was thriving with greenery.
The two then married, and six years later, had a son whom they named Jack.
First Great MÄR-Heaven War[]
One day, while teaching his son the most efficient way of pulling weeds, Gaira appeared to Jake with an arm injury. The family bring him into the home to treat him, and he informs them of the great ongoing war throughout MÄR-Heaven incited by the Chess Pieces. Showing an image of Yggdrasil, Gaira asks Jake to come with him to Lestava, as his strength and botanical expertise was crucial in dealing with the indestructible tree. Jake steps outside to think over his decision when Jack meets up with him. Knowing that his eight year old son had no understanding of what war was, Jake tells him he might go on a journey far away for a while and that he must protect his mother and the farm while he's gone. Jack happily accepts the responsibility and his wife joins them outside, voicing support towards the decision.
Just before leaving the house, Jake told his wife if Jack ever tries to become a man while he's gone to give him encouragement in his place.
War Games[]
In the last round of the War Games, Jake faced off against Vidar of the Knights. The two were evenly matched, with Jake obliterating Grass Bomb and Vidar repelling Magical Mushrooms. Upon Yggdrasil's activation, they took their battle up amongst the tree branches. Attacking Vidar head-on with his shovel against his cane, he asked how a plant manipulator could join the Chess. Vidar explains that it's due to Yggdrasil's nature to feed off of emotional and physical pain of humans as nutrients for it to grow. Jake was disgusted by such motives, but Vidar empathized with the fellow plant manipulator's dream and recognized his potential. Vidar then offered him a chance to save himself by joining the Chess, but Jake immediately turned him down and charged at him. Yggdrasil's Snaky Bow caught Jake mid-air and wrapped around him. Jake cried out that someday another plant manipulator would defeat him. Vidar laughs and accepts such a challenge, confident that he would still win. Yggdrasil's Snaky Bow then attacks Jake and kills him.
ÄRMs[]
Jake's only ÄRM, which would then be inherited by Jack:
- Earth Scoop: A Nature ÄRM that allows Jake to manipulate plants. Without its magic stones, it's a mere Weapon ÄRM.
- Earth Wave: Using the power of the magic stones, Jake's Earth Scoop sends out a small earthquake towards his opponent.
- Earth Beans: Jake scatters several small beans on the ground and uses his Earth Scoop to make them instantly grow into giant vines to snare his enemies.
- Magic Mushrooms: Jake spreads spores onto his enemy that quickly sprout into mushrooms. These mushrooms then emit hallucinogens into his enemy, causing them to see illusions.
