Izune (イズネ, Izune) is a character in MÄR Heaven: Devil of Caldea. She is Iffy's pet fox and has a talent for finding hidden ÄRMs.
Appearance[]
Izune is a small, fluffy red fox with very long fur. She wears the Holy ÄRM, Gem Life, around her neck as a collar.
Personality[]
Izune is a very sweet fox that cries "umo" (ウモッ) to verbally communicate.
History[]
In the past, Izune was terminally ill, and Iffy was so distraught that she resorted to creating a forbidden Holy ÄRM, Gem Life, to save Izune. Putting the collar on, Izune quickly recovered and continued to live as if she were never sick.
MÄR Heaven: Devil of Caldea[]
AKT. 1 Iffy's Hermitage[]
While on a casual walk through Caldea Forest, Izune encounters Team MÄR. She initially runs back to maintain her distance, but Princess Snow gently approaches and beckons Izune to come closer. Hesitant, she approaches Snow and receives her affections. Jack and Dorothy both try to pet her, but Izune swiftly bites them. Everyone takes notice of the collar that Izune wears as being an ÄRM. Izune then begins to follow Snow, drawn to her sweet and pure nature, much to the latter's delight. She then goes with them back to the cabin where she and her owner live. While no one was home initially, Iffy suddenly appeared in the doorway, having been outside looking for Izune.
MÄR converses with Iffy about the sudden appearance of Earth Jugglers across the country, and after a brief confrontation with Wheat and Gotchi outside, they decide to meet with the Caldea Investigation Team on the eastern end of the island. Seeing that Izune was affectionate with Snow, she offered that they take her with, noting of Izune's talent for finding and digging up hidden ÄRMs.
AKT.4 Caldea Temple[]
After meeting with Schweitzer, Team MÄR accepts his challenge and go inside Caldea Temple to look for him. Izune finds an ÄRM lying on the ground and shows it to her friends. Alan jokes about the little fox being far more useful than Snow's cowardly servant dog, Edward.
They go down two hallways that fork off from the main entry hall and find a large button in the wall at each end. They determine that the only way to proceed further into the temple is to simultaneously press both buttons. Still feeling insulted by Alan's previous remark, Edward volunteers to stay behind at one end to push the button while the others go to the second. As the two waited, a monster approaches to harass them and Edward loudly panics. Izune bravely stands between them and barks at it to keep it at bay, long enough for Alan to reach the second button and unlock the next passage with Edward.
AKT.5 Undersea Volcanic Cave[]
In an attempt to get to Torneå Island from Aunt Island, Team MÄR tries using the cave network that spreads throughout the seabed between the two islands.
Unbeknownst to MÄR, a mysterious figure appears in the shadows of the cave and whispers to Izune to come over to her. Izune wanders off, with Snow and Dorothy going after the little fox. Suddenly, a huge boulder appears and seals the girls off from the rest of the team. The boulder is filled with a magic power that Dorothy recognizes, and it takes no damage or even scratches from attacks. Both groups are forced to try another route from their sides to reunite.
The team is able to reunite further in the cave and they continue to venture further. By the time MÄR reaches Wheat near the end of the cave, she is holding her head in excruciating pain. Realizing something is wrong, they attempt to separate Gotchi from her, but he suddenly becomes malicious and possesses her, speaking together in sync. Izune tries to approach, but she's immediately smacked back by Gotchi. Ginta and Babbo battle and narrowly defeat them, enabling Wheat to regain a small amount of control. She manages to tell Ginta to "go above the clouds" before Gotchi takes over her again and teleport away.
AKT.7 Magritte Cemetery[]
Upon entering the chapel of Magritte Cemetery, Iffy follows them in and exposes her twin sister, Daffy. She confesses to being the mastermind behind the creation of Gotchi and the appearance of the Earth Jugglers. Iffy steps forward, crying out that no one would be happy with her actions. Daffy angrily calls out her sister's hypocrisy for having also crafting the forbidden ÄRM to prolong Izune's life. Iffy turns away, admitting her shame as she explains why this ÄRM was forbidden. Daffy then grabs Izune by her collar, breaks the ÄRM, and tosses Izune to the floor.
After Daffy teleports away, Snow holds Izune in her lap with false hope that the little fox would recover. Izune peacefully lets out one last "umo" before passing away in Snow's arms. The princess cathartically wept that ÄRMs had caused nothing but suffering. As she grieved, Babbo spoke up to give her a new perspective as an ÄRM himself. With her teammates joining consoling her, Snow gathered her strength to stand up, resolving to put an end to Daffy's scheme. Iffy gives the remnants of Izune's Holy ÄRM, Gem Life, to Snow.
Eventually, after unknowingly stumbling upon a hidden ÄRM in the ground, Izune's voice is heard from the Gem Life that Snow carried. Nanashi wonders if it's due to the power of Gem Life, though Alviss thinks Izune's will is the true power. Alan observes that even after Izune's death, she continues to serve.
