Heinl (ヘーニル, Hēniru) is a kingdom in MÄR Heaven.

Toponymy and Origin[]

The name is an unusual spelling of Hönir (Old Norse: Hœnir or Hønir), a very shadowy god figure in Norse mythology, who joins the gods Loki and Odin on a couple of occasions in the old texts. He seems to have attributes of creation and prophecy, and his name might advert a bond with birds, possibly birds of omen.

Notable Locations[]

Heinl Castle[]

Heinl Castle (ヘーニル城, Hēniru-jō) is the only place shown within the kingdom.

History[]

Heinl Castle is shown briefly during the war campaign being attacked by Vidar, using branches and roots of Yggdrasil to grow throughout the castle interior. As the branches weave their way back outside, castle soldiers are pushed out from windows above by the branches to fall to their deaths.

Trivia[]

  • Heinl Castle was never named in the anime, but it was still shown to be attacked by Vidar.
