- "I'm crazy?? This is completely different!! An ÄRM's true purpose is 'destruction'!! Its only purpose in existence is to destroy!!!!"
- ―Gotchi to Babbo
Gotchi (ゴッチ, Gotchi) is an ÄRM in MÄR Heaven: Devil of Caldea. Similar to Babbo, he is a sentient ÄRM partnered with Wheat.
Appearance[]
Gotchi is similar in design to Babbo but lacks a hammer. His chain is thinner like a rope with a handle at the end for his partner Wheat to hold on to. Ginta considers Gotchi to be a "yo-yo" ÄRM, just as he finds Babbo to be a kendama ÄRM. He wears a monocle over his right eye, and has a moustache that points downward.
Personality[]
Like Babbo, Gotchi believes himself to be gentleman. However, he thinks very highly of himself, and is not afraid to show it by challenging Babbo to prove that he is the superior of the two. His conceit is so great that he introduces himself as "Duke Gotchi" (デユーク・ゴッチ, De~yūku Gotchi) .
However, the more powerful he grows, the more his true psychotic disposition is exposed.
Etymology and Origin[]
Gotchi's name is taken from the pormanteau word たまごっち (tamagotchi), which in turn is derived from ウオッチ (uotchi), the pronunciation of the English word "watch".
History[]
Gotchi is a Guardian ÄRM that lives by parasitizing the Weapon ÄRM that Wheat has. As he grows, his current host ÄRM will become too small for him, and he will search for another host.
MÄR Heaven: Devil of Caldea[]
Using the crafting recipes from the unsealed Pandora Records, a chaser named Daffy Pendleton creates both Gotchi and multiple Earth Jugglers in the ÄRM Shrine. Daffy scouts out a lonely girl named Wheat whom she could manipulate. She offered Gotchi to her, explaining that she would inevitably die from using him but Wheat accepted regardless of the risk. Daffy then begins her plan by thrusting five Earth Jugglers into ground across the Caldean Islands.
AKT.1 Iffy's Hermitage[]
Wheat and Gotchi arrive at Iffy's Hermitage, having come to challenge Ginta and Babbo to a duel to decide who the superior living ÄRM is. After a fierce battle, the duel ends in a stalemate, causing Wheat and Gotchi to retreat with the intention to return again to settle the score.
AKT.3 Claydon Forest[]
Under Daffy's instruction to stall for time for Schweitzer, Wheat and Gotchi go to Aunt Island and call out to Ginta in Claydon Forest with a cloaked subordinate in tow. They watch in close proximity when Ginta, Babbo, and Jack walk down the bridge and pick up a few Claydon Seeds in their path, but Wheat calls out to them when they seemingly don't notice her on the side and continue to walk. They turn back around to see her with Gotchi and her minion in plain sight on another bridge next to theirs. The two teens immediately begin to bicker, throwing their ÄRM partners out of immaturity, but Jack and Gotchi get both of them to calm down. Gotchi instructs them to proceed further to the second half of the forest where they would be waiting to settle the score with Ginta and Babbo.
When her subordinate loses against Team MÄR, Gotchi immediately begins to physically assault the underling for "being weak". Wheat becomes distressed by Gotchi's behavior and pulls him back to challenge Ginta and Babbo themselves. Their battle ends in another draw, and the two retreat.
Wheat reports back to Daffy and complains about Gotchi's behavior, but Daffy dismisses her concern.
AKT.5 Undersea Volcanic Cave[]
Despite Daffy's efforts to separate MÄR in the magma cave to give Wheat and Gotchi an edge, Wheat refuses to go along with her strategy. Wheat proceeds to assist MÄR in reuniting with their teammates while keeping Gotchi inactive. She instructs Ginta where to go and then goes to use her Holy ÄRM, Healing Angel, to alleviate Snow's fatigue. She apologizes for her ÄRM not being as effective, as the intense heat was also straining her. Nonetheless, Snow expresses gratitude to her. Wheat then activates her Guardian ÄRM, Wormhole, and asks Snow to relay a message to Ginta from her that she would be waiting further in the cave at the battleground for him.
By the time MÄR reaches her, she is holding her head in excruciating pain. Realizing something is wrong, they attempt to separate Gotchi from her, but he suddenly becomes malicious and possesses her, speaking together in sync. Ginta and Babbo battle and narrowly defeat them, enabling Wheat to regain a small amount of control. She manages to tell Ginta to "go above the clouds" before Gotchi takes over her again. He laughs maniacally, referring to Ginta as "the boy from another world" and vowing to destroy him with Babbo, before teleporting away.
Wheat is still suffering by the time she returns to the chapel where Daffy was staying, where the latter assesses that the girl's magic power can't keep up with Gotchi's growth as expected.
AKT.8 ÄRM Shrine[]
Daffy escapes from Team MÄR and goes to the ÄRM Shrine, where she waits in the Room of Transfer of Merit with Gotchi and Wheat, the latter still holding her head in pain. MÄR eventually arrives at the shrine and tell Wheat to let go of Gotchi, but despite understanding their concerns, she weakly declines, as Gotchi was all she had in terms of a "friend". MÄR engages in battle with Wheat, Gotchi, and Daffy, and though they won the battle, the trio isn't deterred. Daffy tells Gotchi that they must retreat, but he impatiently demands to continue "destroying". Daffy tells him to quit being selfish as she assures him that she'll provide plenty of food in return, exciting Gotchi. They teleport away, with the intention to attack Caldea Palace.
AKT.9 Caldea Palace[]
They attack the Grand Elder of Caldea as well as the palace guards, with Gotchi and Daffy laughing loudly as they make their way to the basement. Daffy herself admits being rather exhausted as well, but puts up a brave front when MÄR is quickly arrives. Daffy states that once Gotchi reaches his final evolution, he'll completely devour all of Wheat's magic power and life force, killing her in the end, but in turn he'll become a "god". Dorothy declares that Gotchi is no "god", but rather a "devil". MÄR engages in battle in an effort to separate Gotchi from Wheat and destroy him.
In the end, they mistakenly believe they succeeded, but Daffy angerly yells at them for doing so foolishly. She states that if Gotchi is destroyed before reaching full maturity, then all of MÄR Heaven will be in danger. Suddenly, a quake occurs on the land in which Caldea Palace floats on. Gotchi rematerializes in a large energy form and wraps Wheat and Daffy in spheres of his essence, consuming them just before he flees further into the palace basement. As he flies through the halls, he twists the dimensional layout of the corridors and coats some of the walls and flooring in malicious flesh.
MÄR catches up one final time, and are shocked to find multiple Earth Jugglers implanted into the floor. In the center of them, Gotchi rises from the floor and further charges up from the Earth Jugglers around him. All of MÄR resolves to put an end to Gotchi for good, with Babbo making one last dismissal of him ever being considered a true gentleman.
In the moment that Gotchi is destroyed, Iffy enters the dimension inside of Gotchi to find Wheat and Daffy. With Wheat still unconscious, Iffy kills her sister Daffy. She then takes Wheat and the two escape from within Gotchi.
