Gegensatz is a German musical term meaning contrasting or countersubject. A double fugue with two themes, the second theme against the first theme; whatever is opposed to, or accompanies, the subject and answer of a fugue.
The three forms shown of Gegensatz are derived from English, German, and French respectively. A lance is a long pointed rod used as a tool or weapon. Morgenstern is German for 'morning star', a medieval weapon resembling a spiked mace, and flambé is a French term meaning 'flamed' and 'to dress or serve covered with flaming liquor', it is usually used as a cooking procedure.
