Fort Luft (ルフト砦, Rufuto Toride) is a fortified gate appearing in MÄR Heaven: Oblivion of Clavier.

Toponymy and Origin

From German, "air"; in the game of chess, a luft is space made for a castled king to give it a flight square to prevent a back-rank mate. Usually luft is made by moving a pawn on the second rank in front of the king.

History

MÄR Heaven: Oblivion of Clavier

In order to seek out information to help Alviss with his affliction, Nanashi heads off on his own from Reginleif Castle to the next country to the east. To get there, he has to go through Fort Luft, the only passage through the mountain range that separates the two countries. The gate itself is locked, however, so Nanashi walks along the wall looking for a switch that will unlock it. He finds the mechanism behind a camouflaged panel in the wall and unlocks it. After getting through, Nanashi shuts the door behind him and locks it.

Later, Alan and Edward come following after Nanashi to catch up. With the gate locked once more, the two are faced with the challenge of unlocking it. However, Alan chooses a more aggressive solution, by using brute force. He shoots off many blasts of his Dimension ÄRM, Air Hammer, but the doors do not budge. He then musters up as much magic power for one huge blast and releases it, finally blasting the doors open.
