Claydon Forest (クレイドンの森, Kureidon no Mori) is a large wetland that covers the western half of Aunt Island.
Toponymy and Origin[]
The toponym "Claydon" is derived from the Old English for "clay hill". The Domesday Book of 1086 records the Claydon area as Claindone.
Within the world of MÄR Heaven, the name "Claydon" derives from "clay" meaning "magic water" and "don" referring to the only species of trees that grow in the forest, known as "Don Trees" or "Claydon Trees".
Claydon Forest is likely based on the Mesopotamian Marshes in Iraq.
Overview[]
Claydon Forest is a beautiful marsh consisting of ample mangroves called "Claydon Trees", scattered across the western half of the island. The forest is split into two major sections, with the larger of the two being on the eastern side. A number of white boardwalks are installed to enable passage, though crossing through is still no easy feat. There is no permanent settlement nearby, but it is still frequently visited by chasers for creating ÄRMs.
History[]
The water of Claydon Forest has long been used by the magicians of Caldea to infuse and energize magic in the process of crafting ÄRMs.

AKT.3 Claydon Forest[]

Ginta and Wheat throwing their ÄRM partners at each other.
After Team MÄR arrives in the campsite of the Aunt Island Investigation Team, a pair of young witches there give them some Claydon Seeds and a tip on the possible location of the Earth Juggler on the island. Team MÄR then makes their way to Claydon Forest, where Dorothy speaks of the sacred waters of the forest in context of the creation of ÄRMs.
Suddenly, Wheat and Gotchi show up in the forest with a cloaked minion in tow, and she challenges Ginta once again, alluding to Gotchi becoming stronger due to the Earth Juggler in their vicinity. She has her subordinate fight against MÄR first, and upon the former's defeat, Gotchi begins physically assaulting the minion for being weak, causing both MÄR and Wheat to be distressed. Ginta and Babbo then take Wheat and Gotchi on in another battle, which ends yet again in a draw. Wheat and her comrades leave once more, and with the Earth Juggler located, MÄR returns to the campsite.
Strategy Guide[]
Claydon Forest serves as the game's second dungeon, and it is the only dungeon to be split into two separate sections on the overworld map. These sections, named "A" (east) and "B" (west), both involve growing Claydon Trees to bypass dead-ends and obstacles. Despite the winding orientation of the boardwalk, the path is relatively straightforward, making it easy to navigate.
At the end of the first bridge walkway, there will be a short cutscene in which MÄR realizes they need to find some Claydon Seeds to venture further. This means you will have to backtrack out of the forest and return to the camp. Speak to the witch and little girl you met when you first arrived on the island and they will give you a single seed. (Only one is needed, as additional seeds will be acquired further into the forest.) By planting and growing this seed into a tall tree, this gives you access to the treetops level, which is a different attribute than the watery ground below. With both Water and Wood field attributes, Claydon Forest is a great place to level up both Snow and Jack.
